Getting engaged

Congratulations, he has asked you to marry him, or you asked him. Whether the proposal was made at a romantic candlelight dinner or while you were walking the dogs, life will never be the same. Today an engagement is not binding in the eyes of the law, but more of a public display of commitment. Apart from the grins across your faces, the one big clue to your engaged state is the engagement ring. Although Hollywood stars like to pop the question with a rock the size of a duck's egg, in the real world most brides like to have a say in choosing the ring they intend to wear for the rest of their lives. The most usual stone for an engagement ring is a diamond, although modern brides are moving away from this tradition, going instead for a variety of colours and styles. This is a very special time for any couple as you start to plan the future together.
